1. Malahide Castle & Gardens
We begin the morning at Malahide Castle, one of the oldest castles in Ireland and home to the Talbot family for nearly eight centuries. Inside, the rooms reflect centuries of change, from medieval halls to 18th-century drawing rooms filled with family portraits and fine furniture.
The surrounding botanic gardens are equally captivating, with tree-lined paths, walled gardens, and a rich collection of exotic plants gathered by Victorian explorers. You will have time to explore the grounds, take photographs, or enjoy a coffee at the visitor café before we move toward the city.
2. Dublin City Highlights
We then make our way into Dublin, a city that balances history and modern life with ease. I will guide you through the main landmarks, adjusting the pace to your interests. Stops can include:
- Trinity College, home to the illuminated Book of Kells, one of the world’s great medieval manuscripts.
- St Patrick’s Cathedral or Christ Church Cathedral, two of Ireland’s most impressive Gothic churches.
- Merrion Square and the Georgian Quarter, where colourful doors and elegant facades define the city’s architectural heritage.
- O’Connell Street, Temple Bar, and the River Liffey bridges, showing Dublin’s blend of old and new.
We can walk sections of the city if you wish, or take a panoramic drive to see more in comfort. Throughout the day, I will share stories that connect the landmarks to the people and moments that shaped Dublin’s character.
3. Phoenix Park or Howth (Optional)
If time allows, you can add one more stop — either Phoenix Park, Europe’s largest enclosed city park, where herds of deer roam freely, or the coastal village of Howth, known for its fishing harbour and views of Dublin Bay. Both options provide a scenic contrast to the city streets.
