Day 1: Wicklow’s Mountains and Monastic Heritage
We leave Dublin at 8.30 a.m. and head south toward County Wicklow, known as the Garden of Ireland.
Our first stop is Powerscourt House and Gardens, voted the third most beautiful gardens in the world by National Geographic. The formal terraces, fountains, and lakes are framed by the Sugarloaf Mountain, creating one of Ireland’s most graceful landscapes. You will have time to stroll the grounds and enjoy the elegance of the estate before we continue into the mountains.
From there, we drive through the dramatic scenery of the Wicklow Mountains, pausing at Lough Tay, known as the Guinness Lake, for photographs and fresh air. The view across the dark water and pale sand is one of Ireland’s most iconic scenes.
Next, we visit Glendalough National Park and Monastic Site, founded in the 6th century by St Kevin. I will guide you through the ancient round tower, churches, and lakeside paths while sharing stories of faith and solitude that have drawn visitors here for centuries.
In the afternoon, we travel south to County Wexford to visit Hook Lighthouse, the oldest operational lighthouse in the world, standing for more than 800 years. You can climb to the lantern room for sweeping sea views or simply enjoy the wild coastal setting.

Day 2: Emigration, Craft, and the Medieval South
After breakfast, we begin with a visit to the Dunbrody Famine Ship in New Ross. This moving and beautifully recreated vessel tells the story of the Irish people who emigrated during one of the harshest chapters of our history. Guided exhibits and personal stories bring their courage and hardship vividly to life.
From there, we travel to Waterford, Ireland’s oldest city, founded by Vikings more than a thousand years ago. Here you will tour the House of Waterford Crystal Factory, where master craftsmen shape molten glass into world-famous designs. We will also explore the Viking Triangle, a historic quarter filled with narrow streets, heritage museums, and maritime charm.
In the late afternoon, we continue north to the medieval city of Kilkenny for an overnight stay. Kilkenny’s lively streets and centuries-old buildings make it the perfect place to unwind after a full day of exploration.
Day 3: Castles, Abbeys, and Gardens
We begin the morning at Kilkenny Castle, a magnificent 12th-century fortress that has evolved into one of Ireland’s finest stately homes. Inside, you will see restored rooms, art galleries, and the grand picture gallery that reflects the life of the Butler family who lived here for generations.
Next, we visit the Smithwick’s Experience, where the story of Ireland’s oldest ale comes to life through interactive exhibits and tasting sessions in the heart of Kilkenny.
Our final stop in the city is the Black Abbey, founded in 1225 by the Dominican Order and home to Ireland’s largest stained-glass window, which bathes the interior in rich colour and light.
In the afternoon, we travel north toward County Kildare to visit The National Stud and Japanese Gardens, a site that perfectly combines natural beauty, equestrian excellence, and peaceful reflection.
From there, we return to Dublin, arriving in the evening, where you will be dropped off at your accommodation.
